IIC & SSSRIF · August – December 2026

SSSIHL
Grand Innovation
Challenge 2026

Your idea. Real mentorship. Real impact.
Open to every student, scholar, and faculty member across all departments.

Apply Now → Applications close 16 August 2026
A note before you scroll past this
Every significant thing that exists in the world started as one person noticing something that wasn't right and deciding to do something about it.

Not a genius. Not someone with a perfect plan. Someone who cared enough about a problem to take the first step.

You don't need a finished idea to apply here. You don't need a business background. You don't need to know what an MVP is or what a pitch deck looks like. What you need is a problem you genuinely care about — something you've seen, experienced, researched, or thought about — and the willingness to spend five months finding out what you can do with it.

The rest — the skills, the mentorship, the structure, the network — that's what we're here to provide. Small steps, with the right people alongside you, is exactly how these things become real.

Apply Now →
What is the SSSIHL Grand Innovation Challenge?

A five-month structured program that turns your idea into something real.

From problem validation to prototyping, market thinking, legal and IP basics, investor readiness, and a final pitch in front of industry leaders and investors — you'll have structured support at every step.

The top teams will represent SSSIHL at Meghathon 2027 — our national innovation competition, where previous editions have seen investors actively pursue teams for funding and collaboration.

Jointly organized by IIC — SSSIHL  &  Sri Sathya Sai Research and Innovation Foundation (SSSRIF)
Who can apply?

Everyone at SSSIHL.

No prior experience in entrepreneurship, business, or startups required.

Undergraduate Students
Postgraduate Students
Research Scholars
Ph.D. Candidates
Postdoctoral Researchers
Faculty Members
Apply as an individual or a team of up to four. Cross-departmental teams are strongly encouraged — a bioscience researcher and a data science student working together is exactly the kind of combination that produces something genuinely interesting.
Apply Now →
What domains are open?

Five areas. Unlimited angles.

Your idea can come from research, a community problem, a technology application, or a social challenge.

01
Healthcare & Life Sciences
Diagnostics, drug design, therapeutics, health delivery
02
Agriculture & Food Technology
Food security, nutrition, supply chain, applied nutrition
03
Energy & Sustainability
Renewable energy, materials, environmental impact
04
Deep Technology for Impact
AI, data science, photonics, materials science, instrumentation
05
Education & Social Impact
Learning systems, community development, value-based solutions

If your idea doesn't fit neatly into any of these — apply anyway. We will find the right home for it.

What the five months look like

A journey, not a sprint.

Every stage is supported. Nothing is expected of you that you haven't been prepared for.

August
Orientation & Domain Building
Introduction to problem domains. Sessions with industry experts. You find where your idea fits and what it needs. Teams finalized. Faculty mentors and industry advisors assigned.
Sep – Oct
Foundation Building
Deep-dive sessions. Skill workshops. You go from "I have an idea" to "I understand this problem at real depth." Methods, models, and approaches identified with mentor support.
November
Build, Validate & Prototype
Active mentorship. Industry interactions. Company visits where needed. You work on your solution with full support from SSSRIF's expert verticals.
December
Final Pitch
Present in front of a jury of investors, industry leaders, and domain experts. Top teams selected for Meghathon 2027. All teams receive structured, detailed feedback to continue.
What support you get

You bring the idea. We bring everything else.

Every team is supported across the full journey — not just at the end.

🎯
Matched Mentorship
Industry professionals and alumni matched to your domain. Guidance that is specific to your problem, not generic advice.
🛠
Skill Workshops
Problem validation, go-to-market strategy, MVP building, financial modelling, IP basics, and investor pitching — delivered by practitioners.
🏛
SSSRIF Expert Verticals
Technology & Product Development · Marketing & Branding · Legal & IP · Finance & Valuation · Go-to-Market Strategy. A shared service for every team.
💡
Project Budgets
Small budgets available for strong proposals, reviewed by the industry advisory committee. Your idea shouldn't stall for lack of resources.
🤝
Investor & Industry Network
Direct access to the SSSRIF network of investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders who are genuinely looking for what you might build.
🚀
