Both recognitions are independently verified — not self-declared. SSSIHL is the only university in India recognised by both CAS and SOA.
In 2023, SSSIHL was awarded Gold Level Recognition by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) — making it the sole university in India to achieve such an honour, and one of only a handful across Asia.
In 2023, SSSIHL was granted UCAP Advanced Curriculum recognition by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) — establishing itself as the exclusive university in India to earn this distinction.
The SOA UCAP programme allows students to earn SOA exam credit through coursework. The Advanced level — the highest tier — is awarded only to universities whose curriculum is rigorously aligned with SOA examination standards.
The World Needs
More Actuaries.
India Needs Them Most.
With only ~1,500 qualified actuaries against an IRDAI-estimated need of 30,000+, India faces one of the most acute talent shortages in any profession. Actuarial Data Science combines the rigour of actuarial theory with the power of machine learning — making graduates indispensable across insurance, finance, climate risk, and beyond.

Your Coursework
Counts as Exam Credit.
Most actuarial students spend 3–5 years and $3,000–$6,000 USD clearing SOA preliminary exams on their own. At SSSIHL, your coursework directly earns you SOA exam credits — giving you a significant head start on your actuarial fellowship path before you even graduate.
Verify on SOA Website- Earn SOA exam credits through coursework — no extra registration or fees
- Each SOA exam costs $300–$900 USD per attempt — UCAP credits bypass this entirely
- Reach Associate or Fellow status faster — graduate with exams already cleared
- Available only at UCAP-recognized universities — SSSIHL is the sole university in India with this status

Answers to the questions students ask most before applying to SSSIHL CADS. If your question isn't here, reach us at +91 8555 287 239.
-
Yes — SSSIHL provides completely free education across all UG, PG, and PhD programs. There are no tuition fees of any kind. The campus is fully residential and accommodation is provided to all admitted students. Nominal charges may apply for food and personal expenses, but the academic education itself costs nothing.
-
Undergraduate applicants appear for SSSIHL's own entrance test conducted during the interview period (April 23–May 3, 2026). The test evaluates mathematical aptitude, reasoning, and analytical ability. No external exam (JEE, CUET, etc.) is required. Postgraduate applicants are assessed through a subject-based test and interview.
-
No prior coding experience is required to apply. The program teaches all necessary programming from the ground up — R, Python, and actuarial modeling tools are part of the curriculum. A strong foundation in Mathematics (12th grade level for BS, degree level for MS) is what matters most.
-
The BS (4-year undergraduate) is for students coming directly from 12th grade with Mathematics. The MS/PG (2-year postgraduate) is for graduates with a Mathematics or Statistics background who want to specialise further. Both programs are free, fully residential, and carry CAS Gold and SOA UCAP Advanced recognition.
-
Yes. SSSIHL is a Deemed University recognised by the UGC. The Actuarial Data Science program holds CAS Gold Level Recognition — one of only four universities globally — and SOA UCAP Advanced recognition, the only university in India with both. Graduates are eligible to pursue actuarial fellowship with CAS and SOA internationally.
-
Absolutely — and this is one of the biggest advantages. SSSIHL's SOA UCAP Advanced recognition means your coursework earns credit toward SOA preliminary exams. You effectively clear exams through your degree rather than sitting them independently — saving months of self-study and $300–$900 USD per exam attempt.
-
SSSIHL has strong connections with insurance and reinsurance firms in India and globally. Students have been placed across insurance companies, consulting firms, and financial institutions. Research collaborations and conference participation (CAS Spring Meeting, ASTIN Colloquia) provide professional networking opportunities from the first year of study.
-
Three things set SSSIHL apart: (1) Free education — no other actuarial program in India offers this. (2) Dual international recognition — CAS Gold and SOA UCAP Advanced, both exclusive to SSSIHL in India. (3) Research-first curriculum — students contribute to internationally published actuarial research, not just textbook exercises.

CAS Fellows exist worldwide — in a profession the world urgently needs
The global actuarial profession is acutely undersupplied. The Casualty Actuarial Society has fewer than 5,000 Fellows globally — while insurance markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America are expanding at record pace. India alone needs 20× more actuaries than it currently has.
