Startup Day Celebrations: 15-16 JAN, Every Year
National Startup Day is celebrated annually on 16 January, commemorating the launch of the Startup India initiative in 2016. In 2022, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India formally declared 16 January as National Startup Day, recognizing the critical role of startups in driving innovation, employment generation, and economic growth. The day serves as a national platform to inspire youth, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen collaboration among startups, academia, industry, investors, and policymakers.
The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL) has been consistently observing National Startup Day as a purposeful academic and innovation-focused engagement. Through its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), SSSIHL organizes entrepreneur talks, panel discussions, research showcases, student pitching sessions, and interdisciplinary interactions that bridge knowledge, innovation, and societal impact. These celebrations emphasize that entrepreneurship is not merely about commercial success, but about ethical leadership, responsible innovation, and service to society.
Over the years, National Startup Day at SSSIHL has highlighted startup journeys, research-led innovation in health, energy, and environment, faculty and research scholars’ entrepreneurship, and student ideation platforms. By bringing together industry leaders, academic experts, alumni entrepreneurs, and students, the Institute nurtures an ecosystem that encourages value-based startups addressing real-world challenges.
Aligned with the national vision of Startup India, SSSIHL’s observance of National Startup Day reflects its enduring philosophy that innovation must be guided by human values, sustainability, and social responsibility, preparing students not only to become successful entrepreneurs but also responsible changemakers for society
